Medina Joins Leverkusen! Argentine Defender Arrives to Strengthen an Ambitious Project

At 27, Medina joins Leverkusen after establishing himself as an experienced defender in French soccer. He spent seven seasons in Ligue 1 with Lens and Marseille, developing into a versatile and physically imposing player.

One of his biggest strengths is his ability to play in different positions. Medina can operate as a left-footed center-back or left-back, giving Leverkusen additional tactical options as the club builds its new project.

The Argentine was also included in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, further raising his international profile.

Medina’s arrival is part of a very active transfer window for the German side. The club also signed Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli to strengthen the left-back position following Alejandro Grimaldo’s departure.

In addition, Afonso Moreira arrived from Olympique Lyon for nearly €30 million to add creativity and attacking quality.
