Ancelotti's Praise for Botafogo After Copa Libertadores Final
The Real Madrid coach assured that he watched the Copa Libertadores final and expressed his admiration for Botafogo's commitment and attitude after going down to 10 men.
Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, spoke highly of Botafogo after their victory over Atlético Mineiro in the Copa Libertadores final, calling their "commitment and attitude" "extraordinary." Botafogo played the entire match with just ten players from the first minute, with Ancelotti’s former Napoli player, Allan, part of the team.
Praise for Botafogo's attitude
"I watched the match. It was a fantastic atmosphere. The first minute of the game was incredible with that tackle (laughs). The attitude and commitment of Botafogo were extraordinary," Ancelotti said during a press conference ahead of Real Madrid's upcoming La Liga match against Athletic Club Bilbao.
Happy for Allan
"I’m very happy for Allan and for Botafogo, a historic team in Brazilian football. Congratulations to them, it’s a great success after playing the whole match with ten men," he added.
Rivals?
As Copa Libertadores champions, Botafogo will play in the Intercontinental Cup this December. Should they reach the final, they could face Real Madrid, the European Champions League titleholder.
