Fernando Gago's Words After Boca Juniors' Elimination: "I Feel Strong"
The coach of Boca Juniors analyzed the tough defeat against Alianza Lima in the Copa Libertadores
Boca Juniors was defeated at La Bombonera by Alianza Lima in the penalty shootout and was eliminated in the preliminary round of the current Copa Libertadores edition. An outcome that left Fernando Gago's continuity as head coach in a very questionable position... although he assured that “he feels strong to continue.”

Gago doesn’t give up after Boca Juniors' elimination
"It’s a very hard blow. It was an illusion we had of continuing in the Copa Libertadores. We worked for this. From the pain, it’s a game we deserved to win," said Fernando Gago in a press conference. This is completely understandable, as they took the lead on the scoreboard twice to force the penalty shootout. But this time, luck didn’t favor Boca Juniors.
Fernando Gago regretted getting into this situation, as Boca Juniors had countless chances to settle the match: "We had so many opportunities to increase the score. It’s a great sadness because of the illusion we had. We keep working, trying to set new objectives, and from there, continue growing."
Gago wants to be in the Club World Cup with Boca Juniors
No one suffered this elimination more than Fernando Gago. A man who came from the academy and played 199 matches with Boca Juniors. But even so, he confessed that he feels ready to continue: "I feel strong. I think it comes from both the player and coach side of wanting revenge already. The result hurts, it’s an uncomfortable situation, but we will keep working."
The next match against Rosario Central will determine Fernando Gago's continuity as coach of Boca Juniors. However, he is clear that he wants to coach the team in the Club World Cup: "We have to think about what’s coming, the tournament, and the Club World Cup. Keep working to achieve the objectives."
