Lightning Comeback in 3 Minutes: U. de Chile Defeats Estudiantes de La Plata
In a thrilling Copa Libertadores clash, Universidad de Chile pulled off a spectacular comeback in just three minutes to defeat Estudiantes de La Plata 2-1 on Argentine soil. With this result, the Chilean side now leads Group A alone after two matches.
The game started with high intensity, as the home team took an early lead. Just three minutes in, Lucas Piovi opened the scoring for Estudiantes, with the goal being confirmed after a VAR review for a potential offside. However, the Argentine team’s lead didn’t last long.
An Unexpected Turnaround in Just 3 Minutes
U de Chile responded quickly. In the 7th minute, referee Derlis López awarded a penalty to the visitors after a foul in the box by Ramiro Funes Mori. Charles Aránguiz stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to level the score at 1-1.

Just three minutes later, in the 10th minute, Matías Zaldivia capitalized on a rebound inside the box to make it 1-2, silencing the home crowd and completing one of the fastest turnarounds in the tournament so far.
Despite Estudiantes’ efforts to find an equalizer, the Chilean side held firm and secured three crucial points, putting them at the top of the group with six points. In the group’s other match, Botafogo defeated Carabobo 2-0, leaving the Brazilian and Argentine teams with three points each, while the Venezuelan team remains without a point.
In the next round, Estudiantes will visit Botafogo on April 23, while U de Chile will face Carabobo in Venezuela a day earlier.
