Nearly $2 Million Awaits Recopa Sudamericana Champion
Liga de Quito and Fluminense will face each other in the champions' clash of the Sudamericana and Libertadores. This is the economic prize they are aiming for.
Liga de Quito and Fluminense have not one, but two appointments in the Recopa Sudamericana to establish themselves as champions of champions.
They will face off, the reigning champions of the Copa Libertadores (Fluminense) and the Copa Sudamericana (Liga de Quito). If being the best team in CONMEBOL isn't enough incentive, the governing body of South American football has set a lucrative prize for the winner.
Specifically, the Recopa champion will pocket as much as $1,800,000. The loser, however, will not go home empty-handed. $900,000, half of the prize, will go to the runner-up.
The first leg will be played on February 22 in Ecuador, at Liga de Quito's home ground, the Rodrigo Paz Stadium, while the return leg will take place at Maracanã. Both matches can be enjoyed through beIN SPORTS.
