How the tournament works
The 2025 Copa Libertadores has 32 teams split into 8 groups of 4. Every club plays six matches, and the top two from each group go through to the Round of 16. The teams that finish third drop into the Copa Sudamericana, where they’ll face the runners-up from that tournament in a playoff. After that, it’s on to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and then a single-match final.
Big money at stake
Each team that made it to the group stage got USD 3 million, and the ones who reach the Round of 16 earn an extra USD 1.2 million. The prize money keeps going up: USD 1.7 million for making the quarterfinals, USD 2.3 million for the semis, USD 7 million for the runner-up, and a massive USD 23 million for the champion. There are also bonuses for every win and goal scored during the group stage.
The 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores keeps delivering must-watch football. You can catch all the action live and only on beIN SPORTS USA, the one place with full coverage of South America’s top club tournament.
