Edinson Cavani has done it once more, finding the back of the net for Boca Juniors in the Copa Sudamericana. This time, it was during the first leg of the Round of 16 against Cruzeiro.

The Uruguayan striker scored in the 65th minute after a precise assist from Kevin Zenón, putting Boca Juniors ahead in the match at La Bombonera.

Boca Juniors delivered a strong performance against Cruzeiro in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the 2024 Copa Sudamericana. The Xeneizes secured a 1-0 victory, a result that feels modest considering the number of opportunities they created.

On a night when they also debuted their new jersey, the only goal of the match was scored by none other than Edinson Cavani. The legendary Uruguayan striker found the net in the 65th minute.

In addition to this, the home side had more shots on target and dominated possession, making the 1-0 scoreline seem insufficient. 

The second leg of this tie will take place on Thursday, August 22, at the Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto, Cruzeiro’s home ground.
