How and Where to Watch: Santa Fe vs. River Plate in the 2026 Copa Sudamericana on beIN SPORTS

The 2026 Copa Sudamericana brings us one of the most attractive matchups of the Round of 16. Santa Fe host River Plate in Bogotá for the first chapter of a tie that was originally scheduled to be played last week but had to be rescheduled.

CONMEBOL confirmed that the match will take place this Wednesday, August 19, at Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín. The date was changed following the earthquake in Colombia, which forced adjustments to the schedule of international matches set to be played in the country.

Santa Fe Look to Make Home Advantage Count in Bogotá

Independiente Santa Fe had to take an additional step to reach this stage of the competition.

The Colombian side eliminated Caracas FC in the playoffs and now face a much more demanding test against one of the most historic clubs in South American soccer.

Playing the first leg in Bogotá could become an important factor. Santa Fe will look to take advantage of the altitude, the support of their fans and, above all, try to build a lead before having to decide the tie in Buenos Aires.

In attack, the experience of Hugo Rodallega could be one of the Colombian side’s most important weapons. The striker knows how to handle these types of matches, can occupy the center-backs and remains a threat inside the penalty area, especially in a game where Santa Fe will need to capitalize on the opportunities they create.

The challenge will be difficult against River Plate, but the Colombian side know that a major part of their chances of advancing could depend on making home advantage count tonight at El Campín.

River Plate Go After the Sudamericana

River Plate returned to the Copa Sudamericana this season and advanced directly to the Round of 16 after finishing top of Group H, where they competed against Red Bull Bragantino, Blooming and Carabobo.

Now, a completely different stage of the competition begins.

In knockout soccer, one mistake can change an entire tie, and River will first have to overcome a difficult trip to Bogotá before thinking about securing a place in the next round in front of their own fans.

The two clubs also have history in international competitions. One of their most memorable meetings came in the 2021 Copa Libertadores, when River had to play despite numerous absences and Enzo Pérez ended up playing as goalkeeper.

The circumstances are very different this time, but El Campín will once again host a meeting between two historic clubs in South American soccer.

After the match in Colombia, the tie will move to Buenos Aires. CONMEBOL rescheduled the second leg for Wednesday, August 26, at Estadio Mâs Monumental.

Santa Fe will look to take advantage of playing at home and travel to Argentina with a lead.

River Plate will try to impose their continental experience and begin building their path toward the quarterfinals in Bogotá.
