Boca Juniors doesn’t forget: the fans want revenge and have Bayern Munich in their sights
On the shores of Miami, the blue and gold passion came roaring back. Boca Juniors fans held their second traditional banderazo ahead of the match against Bayern Munich in the 2025 Club World Cup, bringing their signature energy: drums, flags, smoke, BBQs, and a whole lot of belief. beIN SPORTS USA was there and spoke to supporters who made it clear—regardless of how strong the opponent may be, Boca doesn’t fear anyone.
“Afraid? No way. Respect, yes. But we’re Boca. We always hold our heads high,” said one fan when asked about facing the German giants. Others were even bolder: “We beat Real Madrid, we beat Milan—why not Bayern? We’re never scared. It’s eleven against eleven. And if we played Madrid today, we’d smash them!” Confidence is running high among Xeneize supporters, who believe history is on their side.
Mystique is their banner
Copa mystique was front and center at the rally. “Boca is the people. Boca is grit. Money never scared us. We show up with heart and fire. Boca is Boca!” fans chanted, waving flags and singing. “They show up all comfy… we show up with soul. If we don’t go through, the Vatican’s gonna shake!” joked another supporter. The passion in Miami proves how deep the bond runs between the fans and their team.
The big match kicks off this Friday, June 20, at Hard Rock Stadium at 9:00 p.m. ET, in the second round of Group C. After a 2-2 draw with Benfica, coach Miguel Ángel Russo knows it’s a must-win. With Ánder Herrera and Nicolás Figal suspended, and Miguel Merentiel doubtful, Russo is considering changes, including Malcom Braida replacing Kevin Zenón.
On the other side, Bayern Munich is riding high after a 10-0 win over Auckland City, even without key players like Alphonso Davies and Kim Min-Jae. Still, they’ve got firepower with names like Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Thomas Müller. Captain Manuel Neuer acknowledged Boca’s weight: “South American football is intense, and Boca is a massive club. You’ve got to respect that.”
It’s shaping up to be a thrilling clash—two giants from different footballing worlds, each with the same goal: to move forward in the tournament and carve out another legendary moment on the international stage.
