Saudi Arabia’s Predicted Lineups for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Clash Against Spain
The Green Falcons are looking to pull off another upset, this time against one of the tournament's most serious title contenders. Can they rise to the occasion and claim a historic victory?
Saudi Arabia is aiming to deliver another shock at the FIFA World Cup—this time against one of the tournament favorites, Spain.
After battling to a hard-fought draw against Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay in Miami in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Georgios Donis' side will look to claim all three points on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia. Here is the projected lineup for the Saudi national team as it prepares for what could be the biggest challenge in its history.
THE POTENTIAL HEROES
Mohammed Al-Owais is expected to start in goal.
Saudi Arabia is likely to stick with its traditional 4-4-2 formation, featuring center backs Hassan Tambakti and Abdulelah Al Amri, alongside fullbacks Moteb Al-Harbi and Saud Abdulhamid in defense.
In midfield, Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat, Mohamed Kanno, Abdullah Al-Khaibari, and captain Salem Al-Dawsari will be tasked with containing Lamine Yamal and Spain's talented attack.
Up front, Firas Al-Buraikan and Musab Al-Juwayr are expected to lead the line as they look to get on the scoresheet after defender Al Amri netted Saudi Arabia's lone goal against Uruguay.
Donis appears set to trust the same starting XI that earned a point against the South Americans, opting for continuity rather than major changes.
Meanwhile, Ali Lajami, Nasser Al-Dawsari, Alaa Al-Hejji, Abdullah Al-Hamdan, and Nawaf Boushal are among the players expected to provide support from the bench if called upon.
