Orlando City returned to winning ways in MLS in sensational fashion as new arrival Antoine Griezmann helped them to a 4-0 rout of the San Jose Earthquakes.

Griezmann officially linked up with Orlando during the World Cup break, and the Atletico Madrid great took no time at all to settle in on his MLS debut.

Orlando went into the break on the back of a 6-2 defeat to FC Cincinnati, but they bounced back in emphatic fashion at PayPal Park, with four different players on target.

Eduard Atuesta starred with three assists, the first of which came for Orlando's opener, as the Colombian whipped a free-kick onto the head of the unmarked David Brekalo, who duly nodded home.

Griezmann laid on a chance for Tiago soon after, but the Brazilian saw his shot turned wide by Angus Gunn, before Maxime Crepeau made a couple of smart stops at the other end and San Jose saw a goal disallowed for offside.

Orlando made the most of their reprieve, with Ivan Angulo drilling in from outside the box in the 29th minute.

Griezmann's moment arrived early in the second half, as he found space in the area and coolly swept into the right-hand corner.

Braian Ojeda rounded off a huge victory for Orlando by heading in from an Atuesta cross in the 72nd minute, as Orlando closed in on the play-off spots in the Eastern Conference.

Milestone up for Griezmann

There are some huge names now plying their trade in MLS, with Griezmann joining Robert Lewandowski in making his bow in the competition on Wednesday.

While Lewandowski could not help the Chicago Fire beat Inter Miami, Griezmann made a flying start to his MLS career and, in the process, scored his 300th club goal.

Griezmann hit the ground running. He led the game for chances created (five), and led Orlando for touches (70), passes (54) and accurate passes (45).

At the other end, Orlando kept a clean sheet despite coming into this game on the back of conceding 35 goals across their last nine regular-season games.

They have now lost just one of eight all-time meetings with San Jose, who can at least take some solace in the fact they have not dropped off the pace at the top of the Western Conference.

That is thanks to a 4-3 win for FC Cincinnati over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Los Angeles FC, however, close the gap to the Earthquakes as they beat Real Salt Lake 3-1, with star attackers Son Heung-min and Denis Bouanga on target.
