Claudio "Diablito" Echeverri has arrived at Manchester City to join Pep Guardiola's team, after shining with River Plate, where he amazed the world with his talent and earned recognition as one of Argentina's most promising young footballers.
It’s only a matter of seeing him on the field to recognize his immense talent, and here’s just a preview of what he can bring to the "Cityzen" squad.

Echeverri’s Conversation with "Kun" Agüero
The young forward, who signed with City in January 2024 but continued his development on loan at River Plate, revealed that he had spoken with Agüero and Martín Demichelis, both legends of the team, who praised the club’s quality and history.

"I’ve spoken with Sergio Agüero. I also spoke with Martín Demichelis. They told me that City is a great club with incredible players and a beautiful history. I knew about the special relationship between Argentina and Manchester City. Agüero, in particular, stands out," said Echeverri.
The 19-year-old forward, who will become the 12th Argentine to wear the "sky blue" shirt, expressed his excitement about joining a club with such a strong reputation in Argentina, thanks to figures like Agüero, Tévez, and Zabaleta.
"He is a legend here at Manchester City for everything he achieved and the incredible player he was. I used to watch him play, and honestly, it’s an amazing feeling to be here," added the Argentine forward.
Echeverri, who signed a contract until the summer of 2028, will wear the number 30, which was previously worn by Nicolás Otamendi, who played 210 matches with City over five years.
The player also highlighted the team’s dynamic wingers, such as Belgian Jeremy Doku and Brazilian Savinho, describing them as "very dynamic" and "sharp with the ball," always looking to take on defenders and attack.
After his standout performance at the South American U-20 Championship in Venezuela, where Argentina finished as runners-up and Echeverri became the tournament's second-top scorer with six goals, the young forward shared his satisfaction with his individual performance.
"Honestly, it was a great experience, really good, and I’m very happy. The team did a great job. We couldn’t win the tournament, but I’m proud of our performance. Individually, I think I did well. I finished as the second-top scorer with six goals," Echeverri noted.
The new Manchester City signing added that his participation in the U-20 tournament gave him more motivation and allowed him to showcase his skills, fueling his excitement for what lies ahead in his future at the English club.
