Another Mexican Joins the Premier League
Julián Araujo, the young Mexican right-back, is on the verge of making a big leap in his career by joining Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Although official confirmation is still pending, FC Barcelona and Bournemouth have finalized the deal for his transfer, marking the end of his time with the Catalan club and the start of a new adventure in England. Araujo, who spent last season on loan at UD Las Palmas under coach García Pimienta, was hoping to secure a spot in the squad under Barcelona’s new coach, Hansi Flick.
However, things didn’t go his way. During Barça’s recent tour in the U.S., Araujo only got 45 minutes of playing time, making it clear that Flick didn’t have him in his plans. The German coach even chose to play other players out of position to cover the right-back spot, a role that will continue to be dominated by Jules Koundé.
The transfer deal is seen as a win-win situation for both parties. For Barcelona, selling Araujo brings in some much-needed cash. For Araujo, this move is a golden opportunity to keep developing in a highly competitive environment like the Premier League.
In his first full season in Europe, Araujo gained valuable experience, playing in 28 matches for Las Palmas in La Liga and the Copa del Rey, racking up 1,655 minutes and scoring two goals.
The decision to send Araujo to the Premier League highlights the confidence in his potential to succeed at the highest level. According to Spanish journalist Toni Juanmartí, negotiations between Barcelona and Bournemouth went smoothly, ensuring that Araujo will not continue with the Blaugrana.
Born in California but with Mexican roots, Araujo has proven to be a promising talent. Joining Nottingham Forest will not only give him more playing time but also the chance to face some of the best players in the world in the most competitive league out there.
After being part of Barcelona and participating in their U.S. tour, Araujo is ready to write a new chapter in his career, this time wearing the colors of Nottingham Forest.
