Erik Ten Hag Stays Positive About Manchester United Despite Historic Goal Drought
West Ham got the better of Ten Hag’s men.
The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 loss to West Ham United, marking four games straight without finding the net. It's the first time they've had such a long dry spell since 1992. It's not just that – they haven't won a match since December 6th, leaving them in eighth place and out of European spots.
"We've got issues. We've faced numerous setbacks and injuries, and so on. But the players on the field are good enough to win the game," mentioned the Dutchman when asked about the cause of this goal drought.
Following this defeat, Ten Hag pointed out that it's not only about the forwards but also about teamwork: "But we also have to recognize the fact that we didn't do it as a team. We've got to take responsibility. Football is about winning games and scoring goals," stated the Manchester United coach.
"They've got the ability to score within our team, including set pieces. Right now, we're not doing it. They've got to stick together and believe in themselves that they can do it," was Ten Hag's response regarding the solutions needed to end this dry spell and turn things around.
The 20th defeat in 2023 is also their worst record in a calendar year since 1989, and despite still being in the mix, it remains a critical situation for a historic team like United in the Premier League
