Manchester City Sets Revenue Record Amid Sporting Crisis
Despite going through a challenging period on the field, Manchester City announced a significant financial milestone this Friday, December 13: the club generated €861 million in revenue last season, the highest in its history.
Despite securing just one victory in their last ten matches, the Skyblues maintain strong financial health. In their official statement, they highlighted achieving a net profit of €89 million, showcasing steady growth since Sheikh Mansour's takeover in 2008. This financial achievement even surpasses the revenue recorded in the 2022-2023 season, during which the team won the historic treble of Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
“This ability to aspire to and achieve the unprecedented is a hallmark of our club,” stated Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, Manchester City’s chairman. According to Al-Mubarak, the organization has refined its management model over the years, leading to consistent positive financial results. Since the 2014-2015 season, the club has maintained a positive balance sheet, except for the 2019-2020 campaign due to the impact of the pandemic.
The club continues investing in infrastructure. They have allocated €361 million to renovate the North Stand of the Etihad Stadium, preparing for the Euro 2028 hosted in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Additionally, it was confirmed that the Cityzens' new training center will be completed by the 2025-2026 season.
With these positive financial results, Pep Guardiola and his team aim to use this momentum to improve their on-field performance. This Sunday, they face a crucial Manchester derby against United, a key match to change their negative trajectory and regain confidence on the pitch.
