Rodri Talks About his Injury and Recovery: When Will He Return to Play?
The Super Bowl 2025 was an unparalleled event. In its 59th edition, the Philadelphia Eagles secured a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans. Beyond the excitement this event generates in the United States, its impact transcends borders and attracts the attention of sports stars worldwide. Among the attendees was Rodri, midfielder for Manchester City, who, like Antoine Griezmann, has shown admiration for American football.
Just two days before the clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid, Rodri received permission from the English club to travel to the United States and witness the spectacle. The Spanish midfielder is currently recovering from a severe ACL injury he suffered last September during a Premier League match against Arsenal. As he is sidelined for the Champions League Round of 16, he took the opportunity to enjoy the sporting event.
During his stay in the United States, Rodri spoke with Sky Sports about his physical condition and recovery process. “I always say this is part of life. Injuries are something athletes are used to,” said the Spaniard, maintaining an optimistic attitude despite the frustration of not being able to help his team on the pitch.

A recovery with ups and downs
Despite the challenging situation, Rodri remains positive and sees this break as an opportunity to strengthen other areas. “I am a very positive person. I always thank God for everything, and in these moments, I try to focus on the good. I’ve taken the time to do things I normally can’t, like spending more time with my family and working on improving other parts of my body to come back stronger,” he assured.
However, the midfielder also acknowledges how difficult it is to watch matches from the sidelines. “I don’t like this situation. You get more nervous because you can’t control what happens on the pitch. But I try to support my team from the outside and give them my perspective on the game,” he explained.
As his recovery progresses, Rodri hopes to rejoin the team soon and once again be a key player for Manchester City in the crucial stage of the season. In the meantime, he remains committed to his rehabilitation, convinced that he will return even stronger.
