Serious Injury for Lisandro Martínez: Manchester United Confirms the Worst
The Argentine defender was injured in Manchester United's defeat against Crystal Palace. He has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture.
Manchester United confirmed on Thursday that Lisandro Martínez has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture.
The Argentine defender sustained the injury in the 82nd minute of the defeat against Crystal Palace after an awkward movement in his knee and had to be stretchered off the field.
Since joining Manchester United, Lisandro has endured multiple injury setbacks, including a metatarsal fracture in April 2023 that sidelined him for nearly three months, a foot injury in September 2023 that kept him out for over 100 days, and a knee issue in February last year that ruled him out for two months.
"Manchester United can confirm that Lisandro Martínez suffered a cruciate ligament injury during last Sunday's match against Crystal Palace. Further tests are being carried out to determine the best course of treatment and the timeline for his rehabilitation," the club said in a statement.
"Everyone at Manchester United wishes Lisandro strength for a successful recovery, and we will be supporting him every step of the way."
