The Change that The Premier League will Introduce Next Season
The Premier League clubs have unanimously decided to introduce semi-automatic offside technology, the same technology used in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, for the 2024-2025 season.
According to the league, the plan is to introduce this technology after one of the international breaks in September or October.
"This technology will provide greater speed and consistency with the virtual offside line, based on optical player tracking. It will also produce high-quality graphics for television and an enhanced stadium experience for fans," stated the Premier League in a statement, adding that VAR reviews will be reduced by about 31 seconds.
This system is also intended to be introduced in FA Cup matches played at Premier League club stadiums, as well as in the semifinals and final of the competition at Wembley.
This technology is already used in the Champions League and Serie A, and it was used in the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and in the Club World Cup won by Manchester City.
