Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton: Moyes' men build on derby draw
Everton continued their resurgence under David Moyes with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, with Beto and Carlos Alcaraz scoring.
Carlos Alcaraz registered a goal and an assist as Everton ended a memorable week with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Having earned a 2-2 draw with Liverpool via James Tarkowski's 98th-minute stunner on Wednesday, Everton arrived in south London in buoyant mood.
Beto put them ahead somewhat against the run of play late in the first half, slotting home after Alcaraz pounced on a careless throw-in from Tyrick Mitchell.
That goal came after Palace had missed several good opportunities and seen a Jefferson Lerma header disallowed, with the linesman and the VAR concurring that Justin Devenny's corner had curled out of play.
However, Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled with his 11th Premier League goal of the season early in the second half, stroking into the bottom-right corner after Marc Guehi flicked a loose ball into his path.
But with the game stretched, it was Everton that landed the telling blow. Ashley Young's volley was blocked by Will Hughes, and Alcaraz was in the right place to slot the rebound home.
David Moyes' team climb one place in the table to 13th, with 30 points. They are level with 12th-placed Palace, whose goal difference is just one better.
Data Debrief: The Moyes-iah works his magic
Since Moyes' first match back in charge of Everton, they have taken 13 points from six Premier League games (four wins, one draw, one defeat).
No team in the Premier League has bettered the Toffees' tally during that spell.
Perhaps Moyes' most impressive achievement has been getting Everton's attack firing, even with Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured.
Beto now has four goals in five Premier League matches under Moyes, as many as he managed in his 42 such appearances under former boss Sean Dyche.
