Dele Alli is attempting to revive his career while training with West Ham, as former manager Karl Robinson insists the former England international still has the talent to succeed.
Dele Alli is hoping to revive his football career after joining West Ham United for training as he searches for another opportunity in professional football.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star, who earned 37 caps for England, has not played a competitive match since March of last year. His brief comeback with Como under Cesc Fàbregas ended in disappointment after he was sent off less than ten minutes into what proved to be his only appearance for the Italian club.
Despite those setbacks, former Salford City manager Karl Robinson believes Alli still has the ability to perform at a high level. Speaking to talkSPORT, Robinson revealed that he recently met the midfielder during a preseason camp in Marbella and was encouraged by his determination to return.
"People forget that he was, and still is, a talented footballer," Robinson said.
However, Robinson also stressed that Alli has reached a critical stage in his career, insisting that any comeback now depends entirely on the player himself.
"If West Ham gives him this opportunity and he hits the ground running, everyone knows how talented he can be. But it's down to him now."
At 30 years old, Alli still has time to rebuild his career, but after several injury-plagued seasons and missed opportunities, his next move could determine whether he returns to the top level of English football.
Random fact: Between 2015 and 2018, Dele Alli produced 50 goals and 41 assists in all competitions for Tottenham, making him one of Europe's most productive attacking midfielders during that span.
