Rosenior Addresses Enzo Fernández Real Madrid Rumours
Speculation continues to swirl around Enzo Fernández, but Liam Rosenior remains calm as questions grow over the midfielder’s future at Chelsea.
Enzo Fernández’s future under the spotlight
The future of Enzo Fernández at Chelsea is once again under scrutiny as transfer rumours gather pace. The Argentine midfielder is no longer viewed as “untouchable” at Stamford Bridge, and the club would be open to negotiations should a suitable offer arrive.
Real Madrid have been heavily linked with the World Cup winner, as both clubs explore options to strengthen their midfield with elite-level talent. Fernández cost Chelsea around €121 million when he arrived from Benfica in 2023, meaning any potential deal would come at a significant price.
Reports also suggest the player himself is assessing his long-term future following the departure of Enzo Maresca as head coach.
Rosenior plays down the speculation
New Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior was asked directly about the growing rumours and offered a composed response regarding Fernández’s situation.
“It means nothing to me,” Rosenior told reporters. “When you are a world-class player, there will always be speculation you can’t control. Enzo has been exceptional since I’ve worked with him.”
Rosenior highlighted Fernández’s commitment, even while dealing with illness. “He was sick on Saturday, and even then, the way he covered the pitch surprised me. He’s a Chelsea player, and I expect us to have a successful working relationship, both in the short and long term.”

Versatility and trust in Enzo
The Chelsea coach also addressed where Fernández fits best tactically, praising his adaptability and all-round qualities.
“Enzo has an incredible range of attributes,” Rosenior explained. “Technically outstanding, high work rate, he finishes well, scores goals and arrives in the box. A player of his level can operate in different roles.”
He added: “I don’t believe in players being locked into one position. I’ve always used footballers in different functions, and I’ll do the same with Enzo because he’s an exceptional player. My job is to find the right balance around him, for the good of the team.”
A name that will keep making noise
As Chelsea continue their search for sporting stability and Real Madrid weigh up their next moves, Enzo Fernández remains a central figure both on and off the pitch. His talent naturally keeps him on the radar of Europe’s elite, and while Liam Rosenior may try to turn down the volume, the transfer market is unlikely to stop talking about him anytime soon.
