Savinho Pushes for Tottenham Move Amid Manchester City’s High Price Tag
Manchester City winger Savinho is eager to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but clubs remain locked in negotiations over a hefty price tag.
Savinho, the 21-year-old Brazilian winger, who signed for Manchester City from Troyes just last summer, is reportedly pushing for a move away from the Etihad Stadium.
Despite a promising debut season with City—where he made 48 appearances, contributing three goals and 13 assists—the winger is understood to be open to a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, who are seeking to bolster their attacking options after the departure of club legend Son Heung-min.
Sources indicate Savinho’s agent has flown to England recently to accelerate talks between the clubs, signaling the player’s strong desire to join Spurs. Tottenham see Savinho as a natural replacement on the wing, particularly filling the void left by Son’s transfer to LAFC.
The North London club has been active in the transfer market this summer, signing key players like Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, and Kevin Danso, and are determined to add Savinho to their roster.
Manchester City Hold Out for a Significant Fee
Manchester City, however, have made it clear they are reluctant to sell the young Brazilian easily. While Spurs have reportedly offered €50 million, City have rejected this bid, demanding a much higher price.
The asking price currently stands at €80 million, a sum Tottenham must meet if they hope to secure the winger’s signature.
City’s valuation reflects their belief in Savinho’s potential, especially given his impactful performances during a rare season of transition for the club. Some former City players, like Nedum Onuoha, have expressed surprise at the club’s willingness to sell such a promising talent, emphasizing his contribution in a challenging season for City.
Pep Guardiola’s squad plan suggests they may only let Savinho go if the fee aligns with their ambitions and the player’s wishes coincide with leaving.
What Lies Ahead?
Negotiations are ongoing, with Spurs reportedly preparing to return with an improved offer. Savinho’s willingness to move, coupled with his agent’s active involvement, indicates a deal could be nearing completion, provided Tottenham meet Manchester City’s financial demands.
For Spurs, the acquisition of Savinho could mark a significant step in maintaining their attacking strength after Son’s exit, strengthening their Premier League ambitions under manager Thomas Frank.
For City, deciding if and when to part with a blossoming talent will be a delicate balancing act as they navigate player development and squad depth ahead of a demanding season.
The coming weeks will likely determine whether Savinho’s North London move becomes a marquee transfer or if Manchester City hold firm to their prized winger.
