Manchester City launched a massive rebuild following Pep Guardiola’s departure, spending a fortune to construct Enzo Maresca’s new-look squad.
Manchester City decided that the end of the Pep Guardiola era would also mark the beginning of a major squad transformation. The English giants opened their wallet like no other club, spending €526.2 million on nine signings during the summer transfer window.
The investment marks the beginning of the Enzo Maresca project after the Italian was chosen to succeed Guardiola. Maresca has started the season with two victories, putting City among the four early leaders in the Premier League.
But their biggest statement came at the expense of one of their main rivals. City signed Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for €145 million, making the Argentine the most expensive transfer of the window and one of the biggest deals in football history.

Savio brought in the largest fee after Tottenham paid €87.7 million for the Brazilian. Tijjani Reijnders moved to Al Qadsiah for €61 million, while Barcelona paid €60 million to sign Rodri.
Nico González joined Newcastle for €56 million, James Trafford moved to Leeds for €46.7 million and Nathan Aké completed an €8.7 million transfer to Fenerbahçe.

Enzo Fernández’s €145 million move to Manchester City topped the list, followed by Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea for €138 million, and City’s €135 million signing of Elliot Anderson.
