Who Will Win the Premier League, Finish as Top Scorer and Be the Biggest Disappointment?

Defending champion Arsenal starts as our title favorite, Erling Haaland remains the safest Golden Boot prediction, while a changing Liverpool faces a season filled with uncertainty.

The 2026/27 Premier League arrives with significant change among England’s biggest clubs. Arsenal is defending the title, Manchester City is beginning life after Pep Guardiola, and Liverpool has entered a new era following major departures. With that context, these are our predictions for champion, top scorer and biggest disappointment.

Arsenal to retain the Premier League title

Our championship pick is Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side ended a 22-year wait by winning the 2025/26 Premier League, finishing the campaign on 85 points and ahead of runner-up Manchester City. More importantly, the defending champion enters the new season with stability while several direct rivals are adapting to new coaches.

Arsenal has also strengthened. Bruno Guimarães arrived from Newcastle United, adding one of the league’s most established central midfielders alongside Declan Rice. Greek winger Christos Tzolis joined after producing 17 goals and 23 assists for Club Brugge in the Belgian league last season.

The biggest challenger should again be Manchester City, but the transition from Guardiola to Enzo Maresca creates an element of uncertainty. Liverpool and Chelsea are also starting under new managers, giving Arteta’s continuity another advantage.

Haaland to win another Golden Boot

The strongest individual prediction is Erling Haaland finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer again.

The Manchester City striker won the 2025/26 Golden Boot with 27 goals, his third such award in four Premier League seasons. He also entered the summer after scoring in 13 consecutive games for Norway, with 25 goals across that run.

The managerial change should not necessarily reduce his opportunities. Maresca’s expected system still places Haaland at the center of the attack, with players such as Antoine Semenyo, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki supplying creativity around him.

There will be challengers, but until someone proves capable of matching his scoring volume over 38 matches, Haaland remains the logical choice.

Could Liverpool be the biggest disappointment?

Our riskier prediction is Liverpool.

The club finished fifth in 2025/26, a significant drop after winning the Premier League one season earlier. Arne Slot then departed, with former Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola taking over at Anfield.

The biggest change is the loss of Mohamed Salah, who left after nine seasons and 193 Premier League goals. Liverpool has signed Spanish winger Victor Muñoz, but replacing one of the greatest attackers in league history is an enormous task.

Calling Liverpool a potential disappointment does not mean expecting collapse. The standard at Anfield is competing for titles. Another season fighting mainly for Champions League qualification would therefore feel below expectations.
