Álvaro Morata denies involvement in betting scandal and Fagioli’s luxury watch scheme
Álvaro Morata, captain of the Spanish national team and current Galatasaray forward, has firmly denied any involvement in a supposed luxury watch resale scheme linked to Nicolò Fagioli, the Fiorentina midfielder who’s under investigation for being part of an illegal betting ring.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fagioli allegedly borrowed money from several close friends to invest in a supposed luxury watch resale business. In one intercepted message, the midfielder reportedly said: “Álvaro Morata gets me the Rolex watches for way less, and then he sells them. I’ve been doing this business with him for a year now.”
Morata hits back hard
In response to the report, Morata took to social media to clear things up: “I’ve seen what’s being said about me, and I want to make it clear — the only way I’ve helped Fagioli over the years is by giving him advice about his career, as a friend and someone with more experience.”
The striker also emphasized that he had no idea about Fagioli’s legal troubles: “I’ve never known anything about his situation. I care about Nicolò and hope he can sort things out soon, but I have nothing to do with any of this — please don’t spread fake news or lies.”
He flat-out denies it all
To wrap up his statement, Morata didn’t mince words: “Let me be clear: I deny all the claims because they’re FALSE.” With that, he aims to protect his image and shut down the rumors surrounding a scandal that’s still making waves in Italian football.
