Cristian Chivu insisted that his Inter attackers know they "can do better" as the Serie A leaders visit Fiorentina on Sunday.

Inter have failed to win any of their last three games in all competitions (D2 L1), which includes a loss to rivals AC Milan and a 1-1 draw with Atalanta last time out in the league.

The Nerazzurri have scored just once across those three games, with Francesco Pio Esposito netting against Atalanta.

Milan's win over Torino on Saturday placed more pressure on Inter, closing the gap to just five points between the top two in the Italian top-flight.

Marcus Thuram has not scored for Inter since February 8, while Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Yoan Bonny are both ruled out with injury for the Fiorentina match.

So far in 2026, Inter have won 77% of their matches in all competitions with Martinez on the pitch (10 of 13), scoring an average of 2.4 goals per game.

However, without the Argentinian, the Nerazzurri's success rate drops to 33% (two of six), scoring an average of 1.0 goals.

"He [Thuram] and everyone else can do better, and they are aware of it," Chivu said.

"They are working every day to reach the team’s level in every way. I have no more advice to give at a time when every match becomes a final; everyone needs to take responsibility to be the best version of themselves.

"A thousand things are happening these days; you can’t mention them all. These are things that happen, and we are here to find solutions.

"You have to look at what has been achieved as well. We see our improvement, and what we need to regain in terms of energy and ambition, without losing sight of the journey and the path.

"Nobody gives you anything; you have to go out and take everything for yourself."

Fiorentina, meanwhile, have won each of their last three games in all competitions, booking their spot in the last eight of the Conference League while moving out of the Serie A relegation zone.

They remain in a fairly precarious position, though, sitting just one point clear of 18th-place Lecce.

Fiorentina – Moise Kean

Seven of Moise Kean's eight goals in Serie A this season have come at the Artemio Franchi; no player has scored more home goals in the 2025-26 Serie A campaign (seven, level with Kenan Yildiz and Tasos Douvikas).

Since his arrival at Fiorentina last season, Kean has scored 20 goals in 28 home Serie A matches (averaging a goal every 116 minutes) – including a brace against Inter on 6th February 2025 – while he has netted seven goals in 28 away games in the competition (averaging one every 326 minutes).

Inter - Francesco Pio Esposito

After his goal against Atalanta, Esposito could score in two successive Serie A appearances for the first time.

The 20-year-old (five goals in 2025-26) could also become only the fourth Inter player to score more than five league goals in a single season before turning 21 in the three-points-for-a-win era.

MATCH PREDICTION – INTER WIN

Inter are unbeaten in 15 of their last 17 Serie A matches against Fiorentina (W10 D5), scoring 34 goals during this period (an average of two per game). They have won four of the last five such encounters (L1).

However, Fiorentina won their last Serie A match at the Franchi against Inter (3-0 on 6 February 2025), having failed to win any of their previous seven home league matches against them (D3 L4).

Only six Serie A teams have gained more points than Fiorentina in 2026, with the Viola collecting 19 points in 12 matches (Lazio, Atalanta, Roma, Bologna, Milan, and Inter, with the Nerazzurri sitting top with 32 points from 13 games).

Fiorentina are also unbeaten in six of their last seven home Serie A matches (W3 D3), having recorded five defeats and two draws in the previous seven games at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Inter have scored the most goals from set-pieces (21 – including 15 from corners, also a record) in Serie A this season; conversely, only Verona (19) have conceded more goals from set-plays than Fiorentina (17, level with Genoa).
