Inter Milan Loses Lautaro Martínez to Injury

  • The Inter captain suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh and will be out of the field for a period that could make him miss important matches.

An injury that complicates things for Inter

The Argentine Lautaro Martínez suffered a muscle injury in the left thigh flexors that will keep him off the field for at least three weeks, according to estimates, which means he could miss the derby against Milan on October 31 and the subsequent European commitments.

"Lautaro Martínez underwent clinical and instrumental tests on Thursday at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The tests detected muscle discomfort in the left thigh flexor muscles," the 'neroazzurri' club reported in a statement.

The matches you could miss

The injury comes during a demanding stretch of the calendar for Inter, who face several decisive weeks before the next international break, which begins on November 9.

Lautaro could miss up to seven matches, including the Serie A fixtures against Bologna, Fiorentina, Venezia, Milan, and Como, as well as the European matches against Shakhtar Donetsk and Feyenoord.

The captain, the central piece of the project and the main offensive reference for the Milanese team, suffered the injury after scoring two goals in the European match against Bruges, in which Inter lost 3-4 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro).

If the expected deadlines are met, as local media reported, the 'nerazzurro' captain will return after the international break in November.

In the current Serie A campaign, the forward has scored four goals in five of the six league matches played, with a brace against Roma that allowed the team to come back from a 0-2 deficit and another against Napoli, including a goal in the 91st minute to complete another comeback after being two goals behind.
