Bad news for Galatasaray! After Aslanlar's last game of the year against Fenerbahce on December 24th (resulting in a 0-0 draw), their star striker Mauro Icardi suffered a facial injury, the severity of which has now been confirmed.

The reigning champions of the Süper Lig have confirmed that the Argentine will miss several games in January after a group of doctors and surgeons determined that the player suffered multiple fractures in facial bones.

These medical experts also stated that the 30-year-old forward will be re-evaluated on January 20th. Therefore, Icardi will miss at least three league games (against Konyaspor, Sivasspor, and Kayserispor), in addition to a cup match against Ümraniyespor.

Mauro Icardi is the joint top scorer of the Süper Lig alongside Edin Dzeko of Fenerbahce and Mame Thiam of Kayserispor, all three with 12 goals. Galatasaray is currently co-leading the Turkish league with Fenerbahce, both teams having 44 points.
