Mourinho’s Ban Reduced, but He Takes Legal Action Against Galatasaray!
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has officially reduced José Mourinho’s suspension following his "unsportsmanlike conduct" during the Fenerbahçe vs. Galatasaray clash. However, the Portuguese coach remains unsatisfied and has now filed a lawsuit against the rival club for "violating his personal rights."
Mourinho’s Suspension Reduced
Originally, Mourinho was handed a four-match ban and a €42,500 fine for his post-match comments and behavior. However, after an appeal, the TFF Arbitration Board reviewed the case and decided to lower the punishment:
Suspension reduced from 4 matches to 2
Fine reduced from €42,500 to €14,700
The committee cited insufficient grounds for a harsher penalty as the main reason for the reduction.
Similarly, Galatasaray’s head coach Okan Buruk had his fine reduced from €40,000 to €13,000, but his one-match ban remains in place.

Mourinho vs. Galatasaray: A Legal Battle Begins
Despite the reduction, the tensions between Mourinho and Galatasaray have escalated beyond football. Fenerbahçe officially confirmed that Mourinho filed a lawsuit against Galatasaray, demanding financial compensation for "moral damages."
Official Fenerbahçe Statement:
"Our head coach, José Mourinho, has initiated legal proceedings against Galatasaray through Fenerbahçe’s legal team, demanding compensation of 1,907,000 Turkish Liras (€50,000) for the attacks on his personal rights."
This is just the latest chapter in a long-standing rivalry between the two clubs. Fenerbahçe has frequently accused Galatasaray of benefiting from biased refereeing, and the controversial decision to appoint Slavko Vincic, a foreign referee, for the derby only fueled tensions.
More Controversy Following the Heated Derby
The 0-0 draw between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe was overshadowed by drama, with Mourinho once again stealing headlines.
Mourinho’s Controversial Statement:
"The players on their bench were jumping like monkeys."
Galatasaray immediately condemned his remarks, accusing him of racism and threatening to take the issue to UEFA and FIFA.
Okan Buruk Fires Back:
"The crybaby talked too much. You know he’s famous for complaining. He cried here for a long time. He cried inside, went into the referee’s dressing room, and kept crying. Let him keep crying."
With legal actions now in play, the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray rivalry is more intense than ever, and Mourinho remains at the center of the controversy.
