Skriniar: The New Signing for Mourinho's Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce has secured a top-tier reinforcement for its defense with the signing of Slovakian center-back Milan Skriniar, who joins on loan until the end of the season from Paris Saint-Germain. The 29-year-old defender was not in Luis Enrique’s plans, prompting the Parisian club to facilitate his departure in the final stretch of the transfer market.
The operation was finalized after the definitive sale of Dutch player Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig, as PSG had already filled all its loan slots. With Simons’ departure, the French club was able to approve Skriniar's loan, allowing him to regain prominence under the management of José Mourinho.
Skriniar joined PSG in 2023 after a successful spell at Inter Milan, where he was a key figure in the Nerazzurri defense. However, his adaptation to French football did not go as expected, and he played only 30 matches in his first season.
Now, the Slovakian defender will have the opportunity to revive his career at Fenerbahce, a team fighting for the title in Turkey and aiming to strengthen its defense under Mourinho. His experience and leadership will be crucial for the Istanbul-based club, which aspires to compete at the highest level both in the domestic league and in European competitions.
With this move, PSG continues to trim its squad following other recent loan deals, such as Randal Kolo Muani’s move to Juventus. Meanwhile, Skriniar faces a new challenge at a club with great ambitions and under the guidance of a manager who has historically gotten the best out of defenders of his profile.
