Bad News for Milan with Christian Pulisic Ahead of Champions League Clash
Milan’s Portuguese coach, Sergio Conceicao, confirmed on Tuesday that Spanish striker Álvaro Morata and Swiss forward Noah Okafor are fit and ready for their Champions League match against Girona. However, American star Christian Pulisic is almost certain to miss the game, throwing a wrench in Conceicao’s plans.
Morata, Milan’s main striker, is back in training after recovering from muscle fatigue suffered against Como 1907. The Spaniard, who missed the recent clash with Juventus due to suspension, is set to bolster the team’s attack. Meanwhile, Okafor has also returned after overcoming a calf injury that nearly jeopardized his loan to Leipzig.
Pulisic Likely Out
A left hamstring issue sustained by Christian Pulisic during the match against Como 1907 makes him a near-certain absentee. His spot on the right wing will likely be filled by fellow American Yunus Musah, adapting to Conceicao’s tactical setup.
In addition to Pulisic, Milan will also be without Samuel Chukwueze and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who both missed training. This has opened the door for young talent Francesco Camarda, who has a strong chance of making an appearance off the bench.
On the defensive end, injuries to German center-back Malick Thiaw and the suspension of English defender Fikayo Tomori further complicate Milan’s situation. The clash against Girona shapes up as a crucial test for Milan, as they’ll need to overcome these setbacks to remain competitive at the highest level in the Champions League.
