Marco Asensio Rediscovers Form Ahead of Champions League Showdown vs. PSG
Marco Asensio is experiencing one of his best moments of the season with Aston Villa, the team he joined on loan after falling out of favor at Paris Saint-Germain—the club that is now his opponent in the Champions League quarterfinals.
The Stat That Confirms Marco Asensio’s Form
To put the Spanish international’s impressive form into perspective, only Ousmane Dembélé, with eight goals, has scored more since Asensio made his debut for his new team. In this span, the former PSG player has netted a remarkable seven goals.
In fact, if we consider only the Round of 16, the ex-PSG forward scored three goals against Belgian side Club Brugge.
Asensio’s Loan Deal with Aston Villa
The Spanish midfielder joined Aston Villa on loan after losing prominence under Luis Enrique, whose PSG squad is also thriving both domestically and in European competitions.
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Asensio does not have the infamous "fear clause," meaning he is eligible to face his parent club without restrictions in the upcoming two matches. His loan deal does not include a purchase option, but reports suggest Aston Villa is interested in signing him permanently.
When Are the Champions League Quarterfinals?
The first leg will take place at Parc des Princes on April 9, while the return leg in England is scheduled for April 15.
