João Félix’s 21st-minute goal proved to be the difference in a match largely controlled by the Portuguese side. Cristiano Ronaldo had several opportunities to extend the lead and even found the back of the net in the second half, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
Wales pushed hard in the closing stages and came very close to finding an equalizer, but Portugal held on to secure its first three points of the competition.
