Barcelona Crowned European Champions Once Again
FC Barcelona Femení conquered Europe once again. The Blaugrana side defeated Olympique de Lyon 4-0 in Oslo to lift the fourth UEFA Women’s Champions League title in club history, confirming its era of dominance in European women’s football.
Pajor and Paralluelo Seal the Victory
The stars of the night were Ewa Pajor and Salma Paralluelo. The Polish striker opened the road to the title with a brace in the second half, while Paralluelo added two more goals late in the match to ignite the Catalan celebration on Norwegian soil.
However, the scoreline does not fully reflect how difficult the opening stages of the match were. For much of the first half, Lyon showed why it remains the most successful club in the history of the competition. The French side pressed high, attacked constantly, and forced Cata Coll into several decisive saves that kept Barcelona alive.
Gradually, the Catalan side began to impose its style through possession. Quick ball circulation and attacking movement pinned Lyon deep into its own half. That was when the difference in individual and collective quality that Barcelona currently possesses became evident.
Alexia and Aitana Lead Another European Triumph
Alexia Putellas played a decisive role in the team’s performance. The captain controlled the tempo of the game, found spaces, and led a Barcelona side that completely overwhelmed the French club in the second half. Aitana Bonmatí, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, also stood out once again, proving why she is considered one of the best footballers in the world.
With this title, Barcelona reaches four Champions League trophies and equals Eintracht Frankfurt as the second most successful club in the history of the competition, still behind Lyon, which leads the all-time list with eight titles.
The consistency of the Blaugrana project is remarkable. Barcelona has not missed a European final since 2021 and has become the global benchmark in women’s football thanks to a historic generation of players and a structure that has invested heavily in the team’s growth for years.
Barcelona are European champions once again, making it clear that their dominance in women’s football is far from over.
