Dortmund grabs victory before Tullberg steps aside
Borussia Dortmund registered its first Bundesliga win of 2025 after it defeated Heidenheim 2-1 to allow interim coach Mike Tullberg to sign off with a victory at last.
In his final game in charge before Niko Kovac takes the reins, Serhou Guirassy and Maximilian Beier were on the scoresheet as Dortmund posted its first win in five games in the German top flight.
After dominating the early exchanges, the visitors went ahead in the 33rd minute as Waldemar Anton set up Guirassy for an easy tap-in, with the Guinean striker scoring his ninth league goal of the season.
Substitute Beier then doubled the lead for Dortmund as he finished a cutback from Ramy Bensebaini in the 63rd minute.
The home side responded promptly with Mathias Honsak reducing the deficit in the very next minute to set up a tense ending in Heidenheim but Dortmund held on for the win.
Former Croatia and Bayern Munich boss Kovac will take charge of Dortmund now.
Dortmund is 10th on the league table with 29 points from 20 matches. Heidenheim, meanwhile, is third from bottom with 14 points.
