Last-gasp St Pauli claims huge win at Kiel
St Pauli further increased its chances of survival in the Bundesliga after a stoppage-time own goal handed it a 2-1 victory at Holstein Kiel, which remains bottom of the table and staring relegation in the face.
Kiel started positively and went ahead in the 21st minute through Alexander Bernhardsson's crisp shot from the D.
But St Pauli was level on 34 minutes after Kiel goalkeeper Thomas Dahne spilled a cross and Danel Sinani was quickest to react, striking the ball in to the back of the net for 1-1.
Kiel had chances to retake the lead before the end of the first half, but it was Pauli that applied most of the pressure in the second period.
That pressure eventually told in the third minute of stoppage-time when Noah Weisshaupt directed a ball back across goal after a wild scramble in the Kiel box.
Max Geschwill thought he had cleared the ball off the line, but he old succeeded in guiding it just over the goalline for a Pauli winner.
With all three points claimed, St Pauli is 15th and now has 29 points in total, putting a seven-point buffer between itself and Heidenheim, which occupies the relegation play-off spot in 16th.
For Kiel, it's looking bad as it stays bottom of the pile with 18 points.
