Leipzig slump continues as Wolves rip hosts apart
RB Leipzig lost ground on the Bundesliga leaders after it was hammered 5-1 at home by a rampant Wolfsburg, extending the host's winless run to four matches.
Marco Rose missed the chance to win his 100th league game as Leipzig coach, and would probably rather forget this match ever happened as former Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl got one over his ex-bosses.
Wolfsburg was three goals to the good with barely a quarter of an hour played, Mohamed Amoura's double punctuated by a strike from Tiago Tomas.
Joakim Maehle added a fourth not long after the hour mark before Leipzig managed to grab a consolation in the 82nd minute, but the humiliation wasn't complete as Kevin Behrens bagged a fifth for the Wolves in the first minute of stoppage-time.
Leipzig remains in fourth on the table with 21 points, but lost ground on defending champion Bayer Leverkusen, which moved up to third with 23 points after its win over Union Berlin.
Wolfsburg, meanwhile, moved up to seventh on 18 points, claiming a third stright win that has moved it within reach of the top six.
