Bristol City beats Norwich to claim play-off spot
Bristol City climbed into the EFL Championship play-off places after beating Norwich City 2-1 at Ashton Gate, but it was a nervous finish for the Robins.
Mark Sykes opened the scoring for the Robins only six minutes in before Nahki Wells doubled the advantage with a low finish 17 minutes later.
Borja Sainz, who struck the woodwork for the visitors in the first half, gave Johannes Hoff Thorup's side a lifeline with eight minutes left to play, but Bristol City held on for the victory.
The Robins, with 57 points, rose to fifth place after overtaking Coventry City and West Bromwich Albion, which have the chance to move back up if they win their matches this weekend.
Meanwhile, the defeat is a blow for Norwich's promotion hopes as it sits 12th with 49 points.
Norwich was unbeaten in its past three away league games heading into this contest but is now without a win in three matches.
The Robins, meanwhile, have now won eight of their past 11 home league matches and haven’t conceded more than once in any of those matches.
