Impressive Eckert handed Saints reins full-time
Southampton has appointed Under-21 coach Tonda Eckert as manager with a contract through to 2027, the south-coast EFL Championship club announced on Saturday (AEDT).
The 32-year-old German has changed the team's fortunes since taking over in an interim capacity last month after Will Still's dismissal, guiding it to four wins in five matches.
"We go all in; there is no other way. I don’t shy away from saying that we want to play for promotion," Eckert said.
Southampton is 14th in the standings with 24 points from 18 matches, five points off the play-off spots.
It hosts eighth-placed Birmingham City on Sunday (AEDT).
