Lamine Yamal shines as Barcelona clinches LaLiga title
Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old sensation, shone as the standout figure of the season for FC Barcelona, which clinched its 28th LaLiga title with a 2-0 victory over Espanyol in the Catalan derby.
Yamal's stunning strike in the 53rd minute was the highlight of a match completely controlled by Hansi Flick’s side.
The setting couldn’t have been more symbolic: the RCDE Stadium, where the Blaugrana had already celebrated a title years ago, once again turned into the stage for a magical night of celebration.
From the opening whistle, Barca dictated the pace. With Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski in top form, the team put on a solid and collective display. However, it was Lamine Yamal who stole the spotlight with a long-range screamer that flew into the top corner—unstoppable for Espanyol’s keeper. A goal that not only sealed the game but also crowned a spectacular season for the young star.
Meanwhile, over at Real Madrid, Los Blancos did their part to delay Barca’s celebration. In a dramatic ending against Mallorca, a 95th-minute goal by 20 year-old defender Jacobo Ramon, from Madrid Castilla, secured a 2-1 win for Carlo Ancelotti’s men. Up until then, a draw—thanks to a goal by Kylian Mbappe after Martin Valjent opened the scoring for Mallorca—was enough to crown Barcelona early. But the young defender’s last-gasp goal meant Barca still needed to win.
And win it did. Under pressure, the Catalans responded with authority and left Espanyol with no answers. Now, with a four-point lead and three matches to go, Barcelona lifts the trophy thanks to the emerging brilliance of Yamal, the experience of Lewandowski, and the flair of Raphinha.
A perfect blend that has reignited hope among the Barca faithful—and no doubt left Real Madrid bitter, having fought until the end but unable to prevent the Blaugrana’s celebration.
