Miretti milestone keeps Juve in touch at the top
An early strike from Fabio Miretti, his first for Juventus, was enough to give it a 1-0 win at Fiorentina, a fourth straight Serie A victory keeping it within two points of leader Inter Milan.
There were little more than nine minutes on the clock when 20-year-old Miretti converted at the near post from a precise Filip Kostic cross, but Juve was unable to stamp its authority on the game as Fiorentina rallied well.
Wojciech Szczesny was force into a number of excellent saves as Fiorentina huffed and puffed in search of an equaliser, and Daniele Rugani was also required to make a brilliant last ditch header to deny the hosts late on.
The game had gone ahead despite some calls for it to be postponed after storms devastated parts of the region in recent days. Players from both teams stood together in tribute to the victims prior to kick-off.
Juventus has now not conceded a goal for six straight matches as Massimiliano Allegri continues to bolster his side atthe back as it goes in search of winning back the title it hasn't won since 2019-2020.
