Moise Kean at the double as Inter rattled
Inter missed the chance to go top of Serie A as it was beaten 3-0 by Fiorentina in a rescheduled fixture, with Moise Kean scoring twice.
The original match on 1 December was suspended when Fiorentina's Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch and was rushed to hospital. It was later revealed he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
The game restarted at 0-0 in the 17th minute on Friday, with a Fiorentina throw-in. Inter knew a victory would take it ahead of league leader Napoli on goal difference.
But Fiorentina took the lead in the 59th minute through Luca Ranieri and Kean doubled the advantage nine minutes later, heading Dodo's searching cross past Yann Sommer.
Inter never looked like fighting back and Kean wrapped up the win in the 89th minute, taking advantage of a terrible back pass from Federico Dimarco to convert into an empty net.
While Inter remains three points behind Napoli having now played the same amount of games, Fiorentina moved to fourth on 42 points, ahead of Lazio on goal difference.
The catch-up game represented a big chance for Inter to take the initiative in the title race. Instead, it was sent crashing to its biggest league defeat in almost six years.
This was Inter's first defeat by at least a three-goal margin in Serie A since 19 May, 2019, when it was beaten 4-1 by Napoli.
