The Belgian Football Association announces its separation from national team coach Garcia
The Belgian Football Association announced on Monday that it will not renew the contract of the national team coach, Frenchman Rudi Garcia, which expires on July 31, 2026.
Garcia took over on February 1, 2025, succeeding Domenico Tedesco. Under his technical leadership, the Belgian national team secured its place in the UEFA Nations League (League A) and qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
In the World Cup, the Belgian national team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Spain, who later won the tournament title.
Under Garcia’s leadership, the Belgian national team played 20 matches, winning 12, drawing 6 and losing 2. This was his first experience in coaching national teams.
"We sincerely thank Rudi Garcia and his staff for their dedication, professionalism and commitment over the past 18 months," the RBFA said.
"And wish them every success in the future," it added.
