PSG vs Dortmund - Preview
PSG have never lost at home to Dortmund and are looking to bounce back from last weekend's defeat
PSG have not started the Ligue 1 season in anything like good form, with just two wins from their opening five games. They will be desperate to put their domestic form behind them and kickstart their Champions League campaign with a win over Dortmund.
Whilst the defeat on the weekend at home to OGC Nice hurt, they do have positives to take into this game, not least the form of star man Kylian Mbappe, who now has six goals in just three appearances, averaging two goals per game.
PSG have had their detractors in the Champions League, and it remains the jewel that has evaded them so far, but a win against Dortmund would do wonders for their confidence. They have never lost to Dortmund at home - in fact they have never even conceded on home soil to BVB - which is a great statistic to take into this one.
They will of course have Ousmane Dembele in their ranks, who rose to prominence at Dortmund and as he has never started against his former side before, this could prove a great opportunity for him to come good for PSG.
Enrique does have plenty of absentees though, with Marco Asensio, Nordi Mukiele, and Nuno Mendes missing out. Fabian Ruiz and Presnel Kimpembe are also serious doubts, with Lee Kang-in and goalkeeping duo Sergio Rico and Alexandre Letellier sidelined as well.
Dortmund this season are unbeaten in the Bundesliga, but they have been far from perfect, dropping points to both Heidenheim and Bochum already. They come into this fixture on the back of a 4-2 win in Freiburg, where Donyell Malen continued his good scoring form, netting his third goal in four games.
However, Thomas Meunier and Mateu Morey are both going to be out for at least the rest of this month, while Julien Duranville is not expected to play any part in this one. Giovanni Reyna will also miss out, but players like Niclas Fullkrug, Julian Ryerson and Gregor Kobel made returns from injury against Freiburg at the weekend.
