(VIDEO) Tom Brady Picks Justin Jefferson Over Ja'Marr Chase as Best Receiver, Settles Debate on Top Wideout
Tom Brady never needed elite wide receivers to dominate as the best quarterback on the planet during his reign, but if he had to pick a receiver to play with today, he wouldn’t hesitate to choose Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson.
"It’s a tough decision with so many options. I know Ja’Marr Chase is having a great year, but I’m going with Justin Jefferson," Brady said during a Q&A with Fox Sports.
Brady Chooses Justin Jefferson
"He can do everything from anywhere on the field. He goes deep, plays short, catches the ball, runs after the catch, scores touchdowns, converts third downs... he’s a ridiculous player. He reminds me a lot of my former teammate and fellow Viking, Randy Moss. If I had to pick just one, it would be him right now."
Brady played with Moss during the historic 2007 season when the Patriots went 16-0 before losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl. Moss finished that campaign with 98 receptions for 1,498 yards and a record-breaking 23 touchdown catches.
From 2001 to 2006, Brady’s top receivers included Troy Brown, Deion Branch, David Givens, and Reche Caldwell. However, the Patriots became nearly unstoppable with the arrival of Moss and Wes Welker in 2007, followed by the additions of Julian Edelman in 2009 and Rob Gronkowski in 2010.
Throughout his career, Brady had several great targets, but Moss was the best. Placing Jefferson in the same category is more than justified and could help settle the ongoing debate about who the best wide receiver in the NFL is today.
