CELTICS 126 - RAPTORS 123
It seemed like the Celtics (11-3) were in for an easy game against the Raptors (2-12), who sit at the bottom of the East with the worst record in the league, but Boston needed overtime to defeat Toronto thanks to a brilliant play by Tatum.
With the score tied at 123-123, Boston had possession to win with 20.2 seconds left, but the play became complicated until Tatum pulled off a fabulous buzzer-beater three-pointer to give the locals the victory without needing a second overtime.
Tatum came close to a triple-double with 24 points (7 of 19 from the field, 5 of 12 from three), 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Jaylen Brown contributed 27 points (8 of 16), 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Dominican Al Horford also stood out with 18 points and 5 of 10 from beyond the arc.
For the Raptors, Jakob Pöltl shone with 35 points (an impressive 16 of 19) and 12 rebounds, while RJ Barrett recorded a triple-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists.
KINGS 121 - JAZZ 117
Fox delivered a memorable 60-point performance on Friday, setting a personal record, the highest by any player in Kings history, and the highest-scoring game in the NBA so far this season.
That impressive display went unrewarded as Sacramento lost in overtime to Minnesota, but just 24 hours later, Fox bounced back with another show-stopping performance. He lit it up with 49 points and, this time, helped secure the win for the Kings (8-6) over the Jazz (3-9).
The Kings’ point guard made 16 of his 30 field goal attempts, 3 of 4 from three, and 14 of 19 from the free-throw line. He also added 9 assists. With 109 total points in back-to-back games, Fox fell just one point short of matching Kobe Bryant’s record of 110 points in two games from 2007, a record since the merger of the NBA and ABA in 1976.
Lauri Markkanen (25 points) was Utah's most productive player.
PELICANS 99 - LAKERS 104
The Lakers (9-4) extended their winning streak to five games, though they faced a tough battle to overcome the Pelicans (4-10), who are second-to-last in the West and dealing with a string of injuries.
With 1.3 seconds left and the score 99-102, the Pelicans had possession to force overtime, but they turned the ball over on an inbounds pass. Brandon Ingram led the way for the home team with 32 points and 8 assists.
Anthony Davis (31 points on 12 of 20 shooting and 14 rebounds) and LeBron James (21 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists) shared the spotlight with rookie Dalton Knecht, who continues to impress, posting his career-high in the NBA so far with 27 points (10 of 17 from the field, 5 of 10 from three) and 7 rebounds.
A month and a half shy of his 40th birthday, LeBron played his 1,505th regular-season game on Saturday, passing John Stockton (1,504) to become the fifth player in history with the most regular-season games.
HORNETS 115 - BUCKS 114
A controversial foul by Giannis Antetokounmpo on LaMelo Ball in the final seconds, heavily criticized by Doc Rivers and later admitted by the referees as a mistake, proved crucial for the Hornets (5-7) to defeat the struggling Bucks (4-9), who seem to have everything go wrong.
Giannis, who had scored 59 points against the Detroit Pistons, again led Milwaukee with 22 points (11 of 22 from the field), 15 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Without Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton, the Bucks took a 113-114 lead with 19.1 seconds remaining, thanks to 5 consecutive points from Pat Connaughton. Giannis took on the responsibility of defending LaMelo Ball on the next possession, and the referees called a highly disputed foul. The Hornets' star made both free throws, returning the lead to the locals at 115-114 with 7.3 seconds left on the clock.
On the final possession, Giannis had a chance to give the Bucks the win, but his mid-range shot missed. Ball was the most productive player for the Hornets with 26 points (7 of 20), 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.
MAVERICKS 110 - SPURS 93
After four consecutive losses, the Mavericks (6-7) breathed a sigh of relief with a comfortable win over the San Antonio Spurs (6-8), who were without Victor Wembanyama due to a knee injury.
Kyrie Irving (22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists) and Luka Doncic (16 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists) led the Mavericks, playing only 28 minutes since the game was virtually decided after the third quarter (38-18).
Daniel Gafford had a fantastic game with 22 points (an excellent 9 of 10 shooting), 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks in just 18 minutes off the bench. Jason Kidd’s team also welcomed back key player PJ Washington, who had missed five games due to injury.
On the other side, Zach Collins, with 20 points and 6 rebounds, was the standout for the Spurs, who finished with a dismal 31.8% shooting from the field.
