(VIDEO) UFC: Conor McGregor Says He's MORE SPANISH Than Ilia Topuria
Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor has emphasized his support for Spanish athletes but has excluded Ilia Topuria, the UFC featherweight world champion: "He’s not Spanish, he’s Georgian. I’m more Spanish than Ilia Topuria," he stated.
McGregor, who participated in the Marca Sport Weekend in Málaga, arrived on Saturday afternoon several hours late, much to the anticipation of dozens who had been waiting since morning—he was originally scheduled to appear at 12:00 PM. He seized the opportunity to send a message to Topuria, even though the event's host hadn't asked him about him.
The Irishman pointed out that he had an incredible summer with Spanish athletes because he made a lot of money betting on them, including the national football team in the Euro and tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.
However, he sent a clear message to Topuria: "He’s not Spanish, he’s Georgian. I’m much more Spanish than Topuria."
He insisted that he supports Spanish athletes like Fernando Alonso, Carlos Alcaraz, Sergio Ramos, and the national team.
During this event, McGregor even dared to show off some ball skills with a freestyle specialist and will be in Marbella tonight for the premiere of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), of which he is a co-owner.
