Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia: A Conversation Between Their Fathers Revealed the True Rivalry
Between scooters, falls, and jokes: this is how the unexpected encounter between Marc and Pecco's parents unfolded after a race.
A GP marked by excitement, crashes, and unexpected encounters
The mood at the Brno circuit was more tense than usual. After a exciting race in which Marc Márquez dominated once again, achieving his second consecutive double victory and increasing his lead in the championship to more than 120 points over his brother Álex and almost 170 over Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia, the paddock took a breather.
An unexpected moment in the closed park
While the spotlight was on the riders and their statements to the press, behind the scenes the atmosphere was much more relaxed. Julià Márquez and Pietro Bagnaia, fathers of the day's protagonists, happened to meet by chance and shared a light-hearted chat, full of humor and camaraderie. Ducati captured part of this interaction for its digital series Inside Ducati Lenovo Team, in its most recent episode.
During the conversation, Julià commented with a laugh:
“Did you see? When Alex crashed you saw him and told him to come to come with you, and he said he was going with the white scooter.”
The Italian team's communications manager, who was present at the scene, joined in with a relaxed comment:
“I didn't want to get you in trouble.”
Pietro then explained how the moment with Marc unfolded:
“Now Marc was walking for coming here, so I gave him a lift. Stefania and me.. then three of us on the scooter”
Julià finished with a laugh:
“Afterwards, send me the invoice and i'll pay you. Thank you so much.”
More than rivalry: respect and complicity
Although they face each other like titans on the track, off the track the riders' families share moments that reflect mutual respect and good humor. This seemingly trivial anecdote offers an intimate and endearing glimpse into how personal ties are also part of the MotoGP spectacle.
