(VIDEO) How Skier Koukov Documented the Evacuation of the Crashed Plane in Toronto
Toronto's Pearson International Airport was the scene of a failed landing that left a Delta Airlines plane overturned on the runway. Among the passengers was professional freeskier Peter Koukov, who documented the evacuation and shared the dramatic footage on social media.
At Least 18 Injured in the Accident
According to CNN, at least 18 people were injured, though no fatalities have been reported. Koukov recounted that the flight seemed normal until the aircraft touched down.
"We didn't know anything was wrong until we landed. Suddenly, we were on our side and then upside down, hanging like bats," the athlete explained.

Dramatic Footage of the Evacuation
In Koukov’s video, passengers can be seen evacuating the aircraft while the crew works to maintain calm. Rescue teams are also visible, spraying water over the fuselage, seemingly to prevent a fire.
The video quickly went viral on social media, racking up millions of views within hours. Members of the skiing community also reacted to the incident, including Spanish freeskier Thibault Magnin, who commented:
"WTF! Thank God you’re okay."
Official Response from Pearson Airport
Pearson Airport CEO Deborah Flint held a press conference emphasizing that, despite the severity of the accident, there were no fatalities. She also confirmed that 17 people were taken to the hospital.
Another passenger, John Nelson, described the harsh weather conditions in Toronto, with strong winds and snow covering the runway.
"We slid sideways and then flipped completely over," he recounted.
