The CrossFit Games and the sports community are in mourning after confirming Lazar Dukic’s death during Event 1 of the 2024 competition.

Just hours before the tragedy, Dukic was seen smiling and fully motivated as he prepared for another competition, where, thanks to his abilities, he was one of the favorites to make it to the podium, reserved for the fittest men on the planet.

He was very active on social media, posting several photos on his Instagram stories, and even participated in a podcast with his sponsor.

In addition, he posted a video discussing his goals for the CrossFit Games, where he expressed his aspiration to reach the podium. The clip featured highlights of him competing at the highest level, always with a smile, and he spoke about the joy of competing alongside his brother.

Dukic passed away during the swim-and-run event, collapsing about 100 meters from the finish line. Despite being one of the frontrunners, he disappeared from the competition, and it was the organization that confirmed his passing.

Authorities are currently working on this tragic incident, and all events for the day at the CrossFit Games have been canceled.
